Ella the Charmer

I had to come home and write about our big day today right away.

SO many hilarious and wonderful things happened today. First, we decided to go with "Granny" and Sadie to PetValu to get food, a bed, a dog jacket, toys, Bully Sticks, Veggie sticks for teeth cleaning, treats, and more toys...ok that's NOT what we set out to buy...that's what we left with...and that was only the FIRST store. There was also a trip to PetsMart. Right before PetValu we stopped at my friend's hair salon next to PetValu where we met Rudy, and Rudy loved Ella right away. He couldn't get enough. Then, she charmed the first two workers at PetValu immediately. The next thing I know they are trying to help me buy everything in the store, there are beds flying, they are carrying my stuff, it was a show. I climb to one bed and I say "Ella, do you like this bed?" (it was a French style bed of course) and in the middle of the store she yelp barks, jumps on my shoulders, and kisses {as if to respond yes please, thanks}. The whole store erupted in laughter, it was unbelievable! After many kisses and love from the store, we leave to go to PetsMart, where we receive another round of kisses. She also become an {unofficial} store greeter by standing at the door welcoming everyone to PetsMart while waiting for me to engrave her new name tag. I was starting to feel bad for Sadie because everyone was telling Ella how pretty she was and doting over her, and here's poor Sadie looking for some love too! Ella stole the show...all day. Next we went to my dad's shop where we saw my brothers Billy and David, we gave them lots of kisses. We then went to Granny's house where we played with Sadie, went for a walk, saw Louis the cat (who was very antisocial) and rested some. We really liked playing with Sadie. Sadie adores Ella, even if she does steal the show.

Lastly earlier this morning Ella had a raw hide chew. Before you freak out, I research these things. It was a roll with NO knots on the end, American made only, and with no little pieces for her to choke on. It's truly a roll chew, VERY safe... Please only give your dogs this kind! Never buy at petsmart, etc. This came from a small dog boutique.

*But I digress*

She finished the raw hide and I see her on my bed in the pillows...and then she pops out, sans raw hide. She had buried it! In my bed! First of all so funny, second, gross!!! So we took it outside and disposed of it that way.

We just finished a two hour nap now and by finished I mean, I woke up! She is still sleeping. I mean it has been quite a day...and we are expecting more visits later. We can't help it. Everyone loves Ella.

And I am just loving life.

Until next time -

Sarah and Ella

First day!

Through a series of unfortunate events (not the movie) I met Ella Ramsey Sunday October 13th. Let me begin by saying that if it wasn't for these unfortunate events I would never have met Ella, as a good friend that I met through Chloe is responsible for my good fortune (and many prayers).
Ella was a rescue dog with Bella's Bully Buddies See page here! and had a wonderful foster mom named Lori who took great care of her. Chloe's former trainer and my good friend Matt Fazzino (fabulous dog trainer) had mentioned Bellas to me before. While visiting Matt at his house, he had a training session with a dog formerly named {Snow-White} and I COMPLETELY fell in love! I couldn't help it, I mean just look at Ellas pictures. I knew I had to have her.
I told Matt and he set the ball rolling for me. I filled out applications, I found out what I needed to do, and Monday the 14th she officially became mine. Bellas is a wonderful organization, they do thorough background checks and reference checks on people before they allow them to take the pets home. And that's just what I did!

Night 1. The ride home went great, my mom found her way to the backseat because she insisted that the dog was scared and needed her comfort (she wants to steal my dog I tell you). We dropped my mom off and proceeded home. Ella was terrified of the mountain of stairs in my house, but we had to go upstairs to bed...so I carried my new 50 pound puppy all the way up, and it wasn't bad at all! I needed to get back to Crossfit anyway ;). I'm telling you this dog is a TOTAL ANGEL. She won't go anywhere without looking to me first and she shys away from doing anything before she sees that it's ok. We got in the bed and she cried a bit not understanding where she was, but I quickly soothed her and let her know it was ok. She fell asleep great and we slept until 530 am when I just couldn't stand it anymore! So now here we sit (she's very leery of the coffee machine) and she is just wondering around exploring. I can't wait for day 1!!!

Seriously so much gratitude to Lori and Matt. You are both wonderful people. Thank you.
